My two favorite collaborative organizations in Long Beach are the Building Healthy Communities Initiative and The Nonprofit Partnership.
Building Healthy Communities (bhclongbeach.org) is an amazing collaborative of over 50 organizations that have come together to address health disparities in our city. There are community workgroups on various issues that include low-income residents, academics and organizational leaders. The work is deeply committed to social justice; if you are a movement-minded person, this is the place to be!
The Nonprofit Partnership (tnpsocal.org), formerly known as the Long Beach Nonprofit Partnership, provides training and networking for nonprofits in the South Bay and beyond. When I was a new Director, I took classes every month to learn about budgeting, accounting, grant writing and more, and attended their Executive Directors roundtable to meet other leaders in the work.
If you are new to Long Beach or looking to expand your network in the LB area, these two are at the top of my list!
